Also called hygrometry or relative humidity, the humidity level corresponds to the percentage of water vapor present in the ambient air at a given temperature. It is expressed as a percentage and is measured with a hygrometer (commonly integrated in portable weather stations).<\/p>\n

In a housing, this rate varies according to different factors such as seasonality, outside temperature, number of inhabitants, type of heating or human activity.<\/p>\n

The Agency for the Environment and Energy Management (ADEME) recommends a rate of hygrometry in housing between 40% and 60%<\/span> for an interior temperature between 18\u00b0C and 20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

To be noted that in some rooms such as the kitchen and bathroom, this rate can exceed these values in a punctual way.<\/p>\n

Too dry or too moist ?<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

When the relative humidity in a housing is below 40%,<\/span> the air can be considered too dry<\/span> and conversely, when the rate is above 60%, the air is too moist.<\/span><\/p>\n

The effects on the environment of the housing and the wellfare of the occupants can be different according a rate of hygrometry<\/p>\n

  • Hygrometry <40% :<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    A relative humidity rate in a housing lower than 40% favors the increase of dust, degradation of the furniture and the parquet, combined with irritations and skin drying, dehydrations, pulmonary problems…<\/p>\n

    • Hygrometry > 60% :<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      the moisture content higher than 60% contributes to the development of mold and dust mites, responsible for allergies and a number of health problems such as respiratory problems.<\/p>\n

      Causing harmful impacts on the habitat and the health of the occupant, it is therefore essential that the air is neither too dry nor too moist<\/p>\n

      1. Establish a complete diagnosis of indoor air with the help of an expert<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. No existing system: install a controlled mechanical ventilation system (CMV) with humidity regulating components (humidity sensitive air inlets and extract vents ANJOS)<\/span><\/li>\n
      3. Existing system: check the proper functioning of the ventilation system and replace defective components<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. Regularly maintain all components of the ventilation system (extract vents, inlets, casing and sheats)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
